During your Diploma and Degree years, you will undertake a counselling placement or placements where you will see clients.

Students are required to accumulate 120 hours clinical practice hours with adults – this will start at level 5. This can be achieved by seeing up to four clients at level 5 (it’s recommended getting 40 hours in level 5) and up to six clients in level 6.

To help our students achieve this, we have our own Counselling Service based in Watford (REMA Counselling), where students can see clients.  You will have expert supervision to support you with this work. We cannot guarantee that you will be able to achieve all your hours there, but many of our students find that a placement at REMA Counselling gives them all they need. REMA Counselling is also BACP-accredited as a service and fully supported by LST staff.  Click here to visit the REMA Counselling website.

If you are doing the course part-time, then you will fulfil the placement requirements in the year in which you are doing the Counselling half of the programme.

Church Placements

Students on other programmes at London School of Theology undertake placements in churches or other agencies, including block placements, as part of their programme.

These are not required of Theology & Counselling students, but if you would like to experience a church placement, perhaps during your certificate year, the Vocational Services department would be delighted to help you.
