PG Certificate in Theological Education (DE)

It is with regret than after many years of having delivered this programme to theological educators around the globe, the declining number of students wishing to enrol on the course along with the depletion of bursary funds offered to help subsidise those who did enrol, has led us to take the difficult decision that the programme will no longer be offered to new entrants from 2022. As we start the process of teaching out those currently on the programme, we will only be offering for this year’s entrants the one year PG Cert in Theological Education.

We are convinced that there remains a need for high quality programmes in Theological Education and having just restructured our MA in Integrative Theology to become our new MA in Theological Studies, we are now looking at plans to start developing a new MA in Ministry Studies which would incorporate a Theological Education module.

Please contact postgraduate admissions for further information on our MA programmes.

This distinctive set of qualifications represent a unique opportunity for theological educators from all over the globe to obtain much-desired professional training in education.

It is no secret that teachers in Bible colleges and seminaries all over the world are traditionally trained in theology but not necessarily in education.

London School of Theology is working together with strategic international organisations involved in theological education to bridge this need and provide a series of highly flexible and internationally deliverable courses in the discipline of theological education.

The lecturers at London School of Theology are not only academically qualified but also spiritually rich, which has enabled me to expand both my mental capacity and spiritual life. I have enjoyed learning under every lecturer assigned to me!

Programme overview

You will learn by engaging in both acquisition and participation activities, most of which will shared with a cohort of students that will move together through the course website, engaging a variety of media during the week on different topics and then blogging and interacting in forums over the weekends.

All the modules will be delivered in such a way that you will be learning with fellow students from all over the world under the guidance of a tutor. Arrangements will also be made during the programme to be formally observed during your teaching in order to assist you in reflecting on your practice.

Assessment will vary within the modules, with components such as reflective and critical essays, reflective practice reports, curricular projects, personal journaling, engagement with a variety of online tools and a final empirical research project (at MA level). There will be no need to travel for final examinations.

I’ve really learned so much from London School of Theology about the philosophy of teaching, about creatively teaching, and I have a lot more confidence that I understand why I’m teaching the way I am.
