At Chapel last week we said a farewell and thank you to the outgoing Chair of the board of Trustees, who steps down today, before we welcome our new leader of the board, Malcolm Peckham. Steve Hughes has played a major role in the college, also being part of the Tuesday chapel services and knowing members of the Faculty, Staff and Student community.
Steve served for nine and a half years as a trustee, with six and a half as Chairman. His desire is for those who teach, work or study here, to seek the Lord first and foremost. His hope is that the LST community may rejoice in the Lord and that people will go out from here to serve Him in faithfulness and in truth.
Steve said ‘God is in this place and with you as a community… This place is special in my heart and in my wife Jean’s, we were both students here…my prayers will remain with you and Mark [our Principal] in particular, as he leads you through these challenging times.’
The college community is appreciative for Steve’s commitment and all that he has contributed during his time on the board of trustees and we wish him every blessing for the future.
Mark Cartledge commented ‘The college community is grateful for Steve’s commitment. His heart for the gospel, his desire to see us flourish, all that he has invested of himself, his wisdom, humour, common sense. We pray that God would bless him, as he lets go of this particular role.’
