UCAS Application step by step:
Create an account and register with your personal information on the UCAS Hub.
You will have to list all your educational qualifications starting with secondary education and any relevant work experience you have.
When applying through UCAS, you may select up to select 5 university programmes of your choice; they can be at different universities or the same university.
The personal statement is an essential part of your application as it allows you to showcase your experiences and passion for your chosen courses. You must write a statement between 1000 to 4000 characters that explains why you are the right choice for the university and the programme that you have chosen.
You will also need to provide contact details for one person who has agreed to give a reference for you. This person would ideally be a tutor or teacher from the school you are currently attending or recently graduated from. If you are returning to education after a long break, your referee can also be your employer or supervisor.
Clearing
Clearing is a process that matches those who are looking for a university place for September 2025, with courses that still have places. If you’ve already applied for university, Clearing offers you the chance to change your mind and if you’ve not applied at all, you’ve still got time.
From 5 July – 20 October 2025, you can apply for a course using Clearing if you’re not already holding an offer from a university or college, and if the course still has places.
You can use clearing if:
- You’re applying after 30 June.
- You didn’t receive any offers (or none you wanted to accept).
- You didn’t meet the conditions of your offers.
