Born into a Christian family, Julie first studied Biochemistry before qualifying and working as a dietitian in the NHS. Having come to LST to study theology, she completed her doctoral studies at King’s College, London in 2003.
Until 2023, Julie was part-time at LST and worked as sessional tutors/visiting lecturer for Samford University (London campus), Roehampton University and on the Eastern Region Ministry Course (Common Awards, Durham University)
Julie’s particular research interests are in the use of the Old Testament in the New Testament (reflecting her PhD topic), Second Temple Judaism and the Gospels and Acts. She is interested in supervising research in the New Testament, particularly in Luke-Acts and Matthew. She also has interests in Christology, biblical theology, and hermeneutics, the use of the Old Testament in the New Testament and in the interface between Second Temple Judaism and the NT.
Julie has written popular Bible Reading notes for Scripture Union and has peer-reviewed articles for Tyndale Bulletin. Currently, she is working on a development of her PhD thesis.
