Lecturer in Theology & Counselling
Biography
Alice is a counselling lecturer on the Theology and Counselling BA at LST. She holds a Master’s in Counselling from Waverley Abbey College and a BA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge (MA Cantab).
Alice’s career history highlights include working around the world as a British Army Officer; in central Mozambique as a teacher and relief worker; and in Operations and on the Executive team for an affordable counselling charity based in Gloucestershire.
The threads that run through this diverse career history are the drawing towards meaningful relationship and the desire for healing, which happens in the context of right relating.
She now complements her love of teaching new generations of counsellors with a private counselling practice and manages to squeeze in a little consultancy work for the Association of Christians in Counselling.
Research Interests
Alice is interested in what the concept of forgiveness is (and what it is not!) in the reality of day-to-day relationship and relational pain. Her MA dissertation on the topic of healing moments is a starting point in her larger interest in exploring the healing and freedom inherent when wounding is understood, processed and then released.
