This year’s Laing Lecture is titled, ‘Imitation in Early Christianity and Today’ and will be delivered by Professor Cor Bennema
Imitation ethics is a form of ethics where one intentionally associates with an exemplary person to imitate and become like that person. In Christianity, the issue of imitating role models plays a crucial role but has not received much attention. We will explore what history and the Bible can teach us about imitation and how to live well. Imitation in Christianity is a means to moral development in that the goal of imitating Jesus is to become Christlike. We will learn that authentic imitation is not about simplistic replication or cloning but a complex, creative process as part of our discipleship.
This is a free Lecture, starting at 7:30pm and will be held at Emmanuel Church Northwood: High Street, Northwood HA6 1AS
There will also be a book stall at the church (and also on campus during the day), where you will be able to purchase Cor Bennema’s publications.
For those who would like to join us for a dinner on campus before the Lecture, please sign up and book your place via:
